Preeruptive idiopathic coronal resorption of permanent teeth in children.

چکیده
Crown resorption of unerupted teeth in children has been reported in the dental literature (1). Such resorption may be similar to tooth resorption in adult teeth that have been embedded for long periods of time (2), but should be differentiated from external tooth resorption following trauma, infection, or excessive mechanical forces (3) and from internal tooth resorption originating from the dental pulp (4). In some instances, clinical recognition of idiopathic coronal resorption has been difficult. It has been erroneously diagnosed as dental caries in unerupted teeth, because of the radiographic similarity to carious coronal destruction (5-10).

A possible association between early apical resorption of primary teeth and ectodermal characteristics of the permanent dentition.
The hypothesis of this study is that children with unexpected early apical resorption of the primary teeth are also predisposed to resorption in the permanent dentition. Accordingly, the aim was to perform a longitudinal study focussing on the permanent teeth in children with unexpected early apical resorption in the primary dentition. Panoramic radiographs of 12 children (7 boys and 5 girls) a...

Intracoronal radiolucencies in unerupted permanent teeth had been described previously as caries, carieslike lesions," and developmental in origin.More recent reports describe these lesions as resorption of the crown of unerupted permanent teeth' found as an incidental radiographic finding, rarely in more than one tooth in the same patient.-' These often go unnoticed until eruption and then are...
متن کاملCBCT evaluation of multiple idiopathic internal resorptions in permanent molars: case report
BACKGROUND Internal inflammatory root resorption is a rare condition in permanent teeth, which requires the presence of necrotic and infected pulp tissue within the coronal portion of the root canal system as well as inflamed pulp tissue apical to the resorptive defect. The aetiology of internal root resorption is not completely understandable, trauma and chronic pulpitis are considered the mai...
متن کاملComparing The Rate of External Apical Root Resorption During Orthodontic Treatment in Posterior Permanent Endodontically Treated and Vital Teeth
Background and Aim : One of the concerns about orthodontic treatment is the external apical root resorption(EARR).Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the rate of EARR in posterior permanent endodontically treated and vital teeth after orthodontic treatment. Materials and methods: This observational and retrospective study was performed on 112 roots in 28 patients in the age range o...
متن کاملTherapeutic protocols for avulsed permanent teeth: review and clinical update.
Traumatic injuries to permanent teeth include coronal and root fractures, subluxations, luxations, and avulsions. The most common complications after avulsions are necrosis of the pulp and root resorption. Treatment is often complex, time consuming, and expensive and requires multidisciplinary approaches such as endodontic and periodontal treatments, surgery, orthodontic movements, as well as e...
